NEW Greenstone Pendants

Beautiful Hearts and Hooks, new Toki designs and a special Hei Tiki pendant, all hand picked from my recent visit home to New Zealand! 

Pounamu or Greenstone is the name for nephrite jade stone, which is found in rivers only in certain regions of the South Island of New Zealand. It plays a very important role in Māori culture and is considered as a “Taonga” (a treasure). It is an extremely robust stone that traditionally was carved and polished to create tools, weapons and beautiful jewellery.

Greenstone is a natural stone so there may be a slight variation in colour and grain of each piece. There may also be a slight variation in the size of the pendant (usually only a few millimetres) from piece to piece, due to the hand carving.
